You looked down from the highest tower in your castle. It seemed like everyone, even your servants, had at least one companion. At least one person with whom they could let their guard down. You however, you were above friends and silly companions. All that had been left behind the second you had used the spell that had turned you from an ugly human into a beautiful beast.
This is your story, one that tells of the impenetrable walls around your heart; you, the beast.
You heard a knock on the door of your tower, along with a slight pause.
“M’lady, are you in here? It’s right important we act quick, it is!” Turning away from the window, you looked around the grey walls, deciding if it was worth the bother to answer her.
Perhaps it was. “Yes. You may enter.” Without another word, your servant pushed pass the wooden door inside the room.
“M’lady, you…you have a visitor! And he’s a waitn’ outside of the throne room he is!” She gave you what was most likely a hopeful, surprised look, but it irritated you.
Wait… he? You felt something twinge inside of your chest. For a moment, you almost recalled a memory from the past, in a time where you had not been as cold as you were now.
There were things that you would rather leave unsaid.
“Let us leave then.” You finally said, realizing how long you had paused. Even with your servant there, you felt the emptiness of the castle tower that reflected your heart.
The two of you left the room and began walking down a long flight of dimly lit stairs. As you reached the bottom, you could see the light pour in from the throne room illuminate a blonde man (with rather large eyebrows) who was adorned in rich purple garments. He looked up as you walked in.
You continued on to sit on your throne, thoroughly ignoring the man in the process. That is, until you sat down.
“What is it you want?” You asked plainly, hoping to send him away as quickly as possible.
“I came here to ask for your hand in marriage.” The man said with a polite smile. He had sparkling green eyes.
Meanwhile, you could feel your mouth shape into a large “O”. How dare this man simply barge into your castle, uninvited, and then ask to marry you?!
“My name is Arthur Kirkland, and I see that the rumors are true” Arthur interrupted. “You are indeed as beautiful as you are cold. But please, allow me to stay for three days. If, by the end of the third day, you haven’t fallen in love with me, then I’ll leave without complaint.” Arthur looked up at you from under his bangs, his emerald eyes sincerity.
You narrowed your eyes at the man.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t behead you right now.” You growled, earning a terrified look from your servant.
“Because,” Arthur stated, “I can love you.”
